Another question
Hi again Rockpocket and thanks for your recent help. Another question: what is Userbox migration? I read the Wikipedia:Userbox migration article but I can’t make head nor tail out of it. Thanks! S.dedalus 07:05, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well mostly I was just wondering why some of my userboxes get migrated and then migrated back sometimes. I did create one user box recently though (the one about John Adams.) Not terribly useful, but fun! S.dedalus 07:52, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Templates
Hey - haven't seen you in a while! How's everything going? As of now I haven't done much on WP - I'm occasionaly going through the pages that need citations and adding them, and I'm also spending a lot of time in the RC section, but recently I've created 2 (1 2) templates (just for fun) and I was wondering if you could give me some feed back on them. Really appreciate it either way! --Daniel()Folsom T|C|U 04:46, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well I actually copied that from someone's talk page - but it's meant to be a joke, obviously the founder of wikipedia who essentially created the rules isn't going to violate them. It's be like calling him Jimmy "Vandal4life" Wales - why?--Daniel()Folsom T|C|U 06:15, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oh holy crap, that whole Saenger v Wales thing is pretty intense - but I changed it around so now the only thing you see is the quote and "pov pusher" - and the heading is "Funniest thing Ever" - and i have a smiley face next to the sign. - I think that should be good enough - but if you don't think so obvoiusly I'll delete it--Daniel()Folsom T|C|U 15:51, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm back
Hi Rockpocket,

BTW my Q on the RD about whether its better without me is a genuine one prompted by attacks from a few admins (mostly). Te fact that you cant see that reflects more on your minds than on mine. The purpose of the experiment was to test feeling of whether I should recuse myself altogether from the Rds. So in one respect it is attention seeking, but only to guage editors opinions of my contributions to RDs. I said I was goung to undertake the experiment and even asked to be selectively blocked from the RDs. The experiment has concluded. Im awaiting comments on the results. So far they are inconclusive. If the majority of editors feel the Rds would be better without me, Im prepared to give up editing there. I cant say fairer thasn that can I?--Light current 10:03, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know where I'm coming from with this. To me, my editor hat is always more important than my admin hat. Ideally we'd need to no admins at all- every editor would just do the right thing. So: it doesn't make any sense at all to me to refrain from making a useful edit to a page just because someone I've blocked is the one who's unhelpful edit I'm reverting. So, if any editor goes around making bad changes to articles, and I notice, I'm going to fix it. If this comes off looking like harassment to that editor, that problem is entirely his. I don't care how it makes him feel, I care about what's best for the articles. This may mean I'm occasionally in disagreement with people who put a higher priority on making other editors feel good than they do on improving article space, but so be it. If editors are so fragile that they can't handle someone else editing their article, they simply need to grow up. The day we prioritize hand-holding over article improvement is the day Wikipedia becomes a social club rather than an encyclopedia. Sorry if this is worded harshly, but I feel strongly on this issue. The Billy Boys
Hi there.
with regards to the edit made to the Celtic FC article, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/5064472.stm would support the notion that Rangers supporters have been banned from singing this song, which jars with the statement in the article that this is a song which they do sing.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.9.50.66 (talk) 19:31, 5 February 2007 (UTC).
- Hi. Thanks for your message. I don't see the conflict between what is in the article and that source. It is made clear that both Rangers and Celtic are acting to eradicate the sectarian songs, but its reality that a small proportion of both fans continue to sing sectarian songs despite the clubs' best efforts. Its not the best written section in Wikipedia, but considering the fact the fans of both clubs continually try to edit it in favour of their own team, I don't think it is too bad. Oh awesome -thank you!Daniel()Folsom T|C|U 14:42, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- No idea. I expect it makes some people feel popular. Its just another example of people using WP as a social networking site, rather than an encyclopaedia, in my opinion. Rockpocket 03:20, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
music images
Hi Rockpocket, I have an idea to write a list of Hindustani ragas. The problem is I will need to upload a large number of images like this one. [1] Where does it say how to upload stuff like this? Is it possible (and legal) to create something like this with a PDF file? Do images like this have to be created with Lilypond or could I do it with Sibelius software [2]? Thanks! S.dedalus 07:05, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Weird
This is kinda strange - I just got vandalized multiple times by someone who had helped me out ... I'm not sure what's going on ...Daniel()Folsom T|C|U 16:05, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand either, though they shouldn't be adding fake templates for deletion. Let me know if you'd like me to have a word with him. Rockpocket 19:54, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Just started this. regards--Vintagekits 02:58, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Uh, thanks. It appears to have been deleted as non-notable previously. I'm not sure a seat on the bench for one match (due to injuries to other strikers) qualifies as suitably notable, but there seems to be a trend for articles of youth players, so who knows if it will survive or not. Leucistic Squirrel?
http://www.waarneming.nl/wn_details.php?id=1926680
This link will bring you to my pictures of a very special red/brown squirrel in our garden, with a brilliant white tail - with a narrow brown ring around the tail -, a white band across the belly and white feet. To obtain some zoological information I sent the pictures to dutch zoo's. With rather disappointing results, like: "Never seen before, extremely rare, not the faintest idea." Have you ever observed - or heard of - such a leucistic squirrel, or any other leucistic mammal? Wikipedia shows pictures of leucistic birds and reptiles, but not one leucistic mammal on the "Leucism" pages. Will you please be so kind to forward this message, in case you know someone who has specialist knowledge about leucism in mammals. Or add one or two of my photo's to the Leucism- and/of Squirrel-page in Wikipedia. (It would take me days to do this!) The squirrel is very shy and fast moving. Only pauses high up in the trees. I am still trying to make better pictures, but the squirrel keeps flying away from me... Han Bloem 08:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
About: List of Lebanese People:
Dear Rockpocket:
I have been on Wikipedia for not quite long as an editor now, having been a long time user and reader...
I would like to report to you a slight form of dispute (as I have noticed you do intercept as an administrator with an unbiased view), and this is becoming too personal so much that I am afraid it would take a lot of my time and destroy my constructive efforts and I really have a lot of better things to do than to drag my edits down to a personal fight with other editors lacking an open mind to discuss things and accept to see their material boldly edited, as mentionned in the Simplified Ruleset.
On the page entitled List_of_Lebanese_people, an editor that calls him/her-self "Lcnj" has been trying, and it looks to me very clear now, to control the content of the page, very subjectively let me add, with a policy of the "Winner gets to right history". He/she has been patronizing me ever since I tried to edit and cleanse that page and has also threatened me to be banned (and I don't understand where he/she got it or how he/she clames to have that power anyhow)
Further more, I have noticed on the discussion page for that same article that there has been a previous unsolved dispute with another user (and I am afraid the latter has been banned!).. but now seeing the tone of his/her messages and the way he/she is talking as somebody upholding the ultimate light of knowledge, I feel like the one that should have been banned is Lcnj ...
Anyway, I am not here to judge, neither am I considered as an administrator at this point (although I promise you I am interfering from a very objective and neutral standpoint). What I would like you to note should you have the time to interfer (because I will not answer to Lcnj's attacks anymore, of whom I am really getting weary), are the following points:
- He/she is now aware that the word nonsense is a wikiepdia term and takes it very personal (nonsense)
- He/she keeps calling me by the name Jaber: obviously still traumatised by another dispute with that user, now banned (although I can easily prove we are not the same person, either by IP address or by any other means possible and traceable by Wikipedia). This is why I am pledging to get your help actually, because it seems that Lcnj is trying to monopolize this page as if it were called: "Famous Lebanese Poeple known/liked by Lcnj". Anyway with this tone and the way he/she thinks he/she can run things, it wouldn't surprise me if this user had a long history of fights with other users and if I find out he/she does not have many friends..
- The page contains a lot of immature material. It also contains some material that I'd say is "very difficult to verify" and of which I highly dispute the credibility. Without any references, Lcnj is protecting that material, and in my discussion of late last night, I have elaborated why I have suggested the changes he/she had (twice up till now!) reverted. (Now that I have read more on the subject, do you think I should just add the tag { { nonsense } } to the fishy material in the article? )
- I don't understand still how the reverting works, but I don't think (and please correct me and guide me if I am wrong) that any user has the right to revert good edits if he/she doesn't like them. I thought edits were supposed to develop in a spiral model where each new content added is subject to discussion, not deletion. Am I supposed to take anybody's permission before editing content I find vague, fishy or lacking objectivity?
Kindly advise, and you are welcome to interfer asap on the discussion page of the article in dispute. Also see my user page Jixtalk to see the tone by which I was addressed by (twice up till now) Lcnj as if he/she was my boss! I don't have to take this kind of subjective egoistic paranoid behavior from anybody. All, or most of us at least, are volunteers and good-will messengers ... :o)
Thanks for your time and attention Rockpocket!
I need your help Requesting an investigation into Jixavius and Jaber
Hello Rockpocket:
If you go to [3], you will see that I have already shown good faith and agreed with most of his suggestions, as he expressly admitted. I disagree with some of what he and Kendrick7 have edited as it lies in the unique nature of Lebanese History most of which will NOT be found on the net but I do not have time to educate Kendrick7 or anyone else that the historical information that some well-informed Lebanese have is very rare and precious and while accurate, it will not stand the Wikipedia standard of "notability search on Google" which is flawed in this ccase. This will do great harm by discouraging the very few who know Lebanon well from bringing very rare and unique content to Wikipedia. When I added Bassem Feghali, I had to put a fight and I was lucky some open minded editors sided with me. I will not do that again. I do not have that much time. Please can you introduce some new rules to address this very important matter for Lebanon (and many small countries) especially when well established and credible editors like me introduce such rare and unique information? Four well established editors have shaped the main Lebanon article: CG, George, Lestat and me.
You also said "apart from the use of some unfortunate personal comments about you (which I will be speaking to Jixavius about)", please would you let me know when you do that?
Also, his pattern is extremely similar to that of Jaber's and I do believe that Jaber (an indef blocked user) is evading his block here in a clever way but educating myself on the investigation request is a lengthy process and I do not have the time... Since you seem to be familar, please would you help me by opening such an investigation on my behalf?.... Thank you,
Last time, you explained to me your restrictions that I was unaware of. So, I will in good faith let you complete your investigation. Lcnj 00:44, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Rockpocket! Looks like the blood test results are out. Frankly, I did not quite understand the results (and I don't have the time to delve into more documentation to learn what it means right now), but does Inconclusive mean that I am actually not Jaber, or that the means of lookup you used could not determine who is who?
I will be so glad when my schyzo test returns as negative... Anyhow, maybe now that you have talked to me about "the use of some unfortunate personal comments about Lcnj" in your message (which I found to be very constructive and informative--thank you), please let Lcnj konw you did, for I would really like to know what he/she has to say now that he/she knows for a fact that more than actually one physical person CAN at times disagree with his/her approach that encourages "the very few who know Lebanon well from bringing very rare and unique content to Wikipedia". *smile* So modest... - Also let him/her know please that his/her refusal to except that I am not who he/she thinks I am could be easily interpreted as a denial to admitting that he/she is simply and clearly wrong. In fact, thru the way Lcnj has either approached me, "talked" to me or discussed things, I pretty much believe that he/she is somebody who is not willing to cooperate with people who view things from a different standpoint, and I do suspect that he/she only agreed to my changes (and proudly let you know about them) when he/she read my comment to you and Kendrick7... Again, I am in no position to judge, and trust me, if it was not for the likes of decent and well-meaning users like you and Kendrick7, I think that I could easily describe my first experiences in Wikipedia as an editor as quite disturbing and shocking to say the least.
- In any case, thank you for your time, and keep me posted with whatever comes up about me.
- PS- If you are not familiar with that website [4], please take a minute to visit it. You'd understand whether it was intended as a joke or not. Thus my former "accusation" to some user of being a bit paranoid.
Thanks
For categoriwikification at orvietan. This is only the second article I've created. I appreciate it. ---Sluzzelin 01:27, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey
Hey Rockpocket - seems likes it's been a while since we've talked (probably because I've been working on mainly my userpage and templates - but now my attention is back to the articles:-)). Is there anything your working on that you'd like help with or something - I'm always availible so feel free to post something on my talk page. Archiving, how to?
Hello Rockpocket! I'd like to have a hint as to how I could Archive (automatically if possible) my Talk Page. thanks man. —Jixavius 12:19, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Please stop stalking me
Rockpocket: It is very obvious that you took the liberty of stalking me wherever I edit. I have very little time to contribute and I cannot be discouraged by someone who is OBVIOUSLY picking on and dissecting every edit I make when there are millions of other editors making flagrant additions and delitions WITHOUT any good faith effort to give a reference... I will ask for a cyber restraining order against you if there is such a thing... if not, then I will ask you with IMMEDIATE effect to BACK OFF me competely and stop stalking me... I do NOT want you to talk to me or communicate with me in any way, shape or form. Just the thought of seeing Rockpocket the next time I edit is enough to turn my stomach and drive me to log out Wikipedia permanently and never look back... Please respect my wish and STAY AWAY. If ever I need an Admin, I will find one. Worldedixor 03:01, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Rockpocket: STOP comminucating with me... BACK OFF!... It is not YOUR call to tell ME whether Wikipedia is for me or not... What part of I do NOT want you to talk to me ever again don't you understand? I do NOT want you to ever intimidate me again... nor get involved with me to cause me negative emotions. In case an Admin is needed, I will find another one without your condescending remarks to me. Worldedixor 06:58, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. Just leave me to my editing. Worldedixor 15:58, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Please stop playing favorites against me
I am not sure why, but I don't feel that bad that someone got involved here... even you... I used the one word "jerk" on purpose to show him that I am fully capabale to respond in kind and attack him back after I have been mercilessly and relentlessly attacked and antagonized by that guy let alone harassed with false accusations and fabrications to make me look bad and have others gang up against me. He has dirupted my good edits and I have very little time to contribute to Wikipedia. I am not the one who used his IP address to edit underhandedly and and be antagonistic and nasty in the process. He did... I just pointed it out from the History of that page something anyone can see. His vandalism was obvious when he removed a very good reference that was good enough for you, an admin.
Now, I am totally disappointed that you chose to play favorites and picked on one word I used... yet I do not see you tell Kendrick not to use the "on tilt" reference (which is worse than jerk) and ban that guy after his repeated harassment and obvious lies about me... Will I see you ban that guy and tell him to never ever again talk to me or about me? Let us see. Worldedixor 08:17, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not make threats. Also, you cannot be unbiased when you yell at me in public and talk to him ever so softly in private... You cannot be unbiased when you remove my edit and leave his false accusations on George and lestat's talk pages just to incite others against me... and by the way, he has not stopped commenting about me. Just see his latest contributions. Unless I see an even distribution of "blame" considering that his wrong was an action while my wrong was a reaction, I will follow your advice and open a case. For God's sake, you are threatening me to reveal to him my IP address at a time when I choose to edit with my user name not with an IP..... Worldedixor 15:26, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Citing
Hey, so I was browsing the wikipedia uncited backlog a long while back, and I came upon fanfiction.net. I was trying to cite some of the information, but in order to access everything you have to create an account - do you know of any way to work around this? I first thought of a screen shot but that seems like a messy idea. Thanks for any help!Daniel()Folsom |\T/|\C/|\U/|(Can you help me with this?) 17:48, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
ROCKPOCKET, Can you Adopt ME Please!
Hi ROCKPOCKET, my name is KALMANI & I need your help. Since I'm fairly new to wikipedia, & since you know the rules & proper way to do things - Would you be willing to help me please & mentor me if you can sir? I would be very grateful. For instance, there's this one wiki about Chaldeans & it's biased & everytime I try to correct it the user who put the bias info reverts it to his edits & trys to ban me for telling the truth & lies about me. He reports me to his mod friends & tries to get me banned which he did on one occasion for 24hrs. I did the same to him without no friends & banned him for 24 hrs. You can see the battle here [5] on the bottom headline Chaldeans are not Assyrians. But the point I'm trying to get across is what is the proper way of doing it & what can I do, Can you help me please? Let me know & I would be in debt to you. Thank you for your time! Many Thanx.--KALMANI (talk • contribs)21:27, 25 February 2007 (UTC).
